Dodge has always been a car manufacturer which focused more on raw power than anything else. The 2018 RAM 2500 Power Wagon is no deviation from this trend. In fact, if anything, it actually seems to have taken the game one step forward.
Exterior Styling
The new model is based on the highly popular RAM 2500 Heavy Duty 4×4 Crew Cab framework. In fact, it screams a true American muscle car from every angle. Almost all aspects of the old version have been worked on in the new 2018 RAM 2500 Power Wagon. So much so, that the company might as well have come out with a completely new truck altogether. The primary focus of the new model is on enhancing the off-road capabilities. For example, the suspension system has received a much needed 2 inches more ground clearance along with a 12,000-pound winch.
Besides this, the new model is also reported to be equipped with RAM’s Articulink system. The idea of this is quite simple in essence: provide joints between the control arm and the axle in order to provide more versatility to the pickup. In case you need, even more, there is a bigger surprise. The sway bars can be disconnected altogether to provide the optimum amount of control and comfort in rough terrains. The front bumper is a bold one with the name “RAM” etched in. the same is true for the back as well and the overall styling of the pickup truck is quite intimidating, to say the least. Rest assured, you will get more than your fair share of looks if you drive this around the next corner.
Inside
On the inside, the truck is equipped with everything that can possibly be cramped in. This includes the standard Bluetooth audio streaming capabilities, GPS, a touchscreen central control panel etc. The seat covers are stitched in so that costs can be kept competitive enough, but if you are a discerning driver, you can always opt to upgrade to premium leather upholstery. Of course, a host of security features like keyless ignition, rear view camera etc. are all equipped as well.
Engine
This is, of course, the focal point of the truck. The new 2018 RAM 2500 Power Wagon comes equipped with Fiat Chrysler’s 6.4-liter HEMI V8 engine. Besides the scary sounding name, let us assure you that the engine delivers on its promise. Capable of an output of 410 HP at 432 lb-ft of torque, this vehicle can tow around 10,000 pounds worth of weight. An extended family picnic? Not a problem. All this is connected to a manual shift system. After all, this is a truck we are talking about.
Price & Availability
The availability of the new model been confirmed to be about the middle of 2018 at the earliest. However, on the issue of the price, there has been no real official confirmation. Expect a hefty price tag for this premium piece of the vehicle though.
